SCUPA 2026/27 Election - Roles

SCUPA nominations have opened and will remain open until the 10th of May. From here, voting will open on the 11th of May and close on the 17th of May. We will announce the new committee at the yearly AGM at the end of Week 11 (official date TBD, but will most likely be the evening of the 22nd of May at The Savvy Squire).

If you're interested in applying for any of the roles listed below, please complete the nomination form at the bottom of the page. Be sure to clearly state the position you are nominating yourself for and explain why you are suited to the role. Please note that only self-nominations will be accepted. These positions require commitment, reliability, and a strong work ethic, so please apply only if you're prepared to dedicate the time and effort they deserve.

The current committee will be holding an open meeting on the 7th of May from 12 to 1pm (E.1.03). This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in a position to observe how committee meetings are structured and run. You'll gain valuable insight into the expectations, responsibilities, and dynamics of being a committee member – so we invite you to come along and see what it's all about!

President (2nd Year)

The SCUPA president is responsible for overlooking the committee’s actions, maintaining a clear mission statement and representing the best interests of the student body. The president is in charge of running meetings, assisting in the organisation of events, settlement of disputes and working alongside other committee members to achieve goals. It is also essential to inspire and empower others within the committee to achieve mutual goals and upkeep SCUPA’s professional image. You’ll be required to arrange fortnightly meetings with the committee. Delegation of tasks and clear communication and organisational skills will be essential to be successful in this position and to ensure ongoing success.

In this position, you will communicate and collaborate directly with university staff to enhance the student experience and represent the student body’s interests. This role requires time management skills, devotion, leadership skills, the ability to delegate, outstanding interpersonal skills, level-headedness, and teamwork.

Vice President (2nd Year)

As SCUPA Vice President, you are a member of the executive committee. In this role, you are required to combine leadership and teamwork skills to support the president and committee in achieving both short-term and long-term objectives. It is important to have aligned visions with the committee and SCUPA as a whole and to maintain/develop relationships with peers and external parties.

Secretary (Any Year)

The Secretary is responsible for the administration of the association. This role entails creating meeting agendas, taking minutes at meetings and receiving and distributing mail. This position would suit a very organised and punctual individual who is a team player. Previous experience in a similar committee position would be an advantage but definitely not essential.  

Treasurer (Any Year)

The treasurer is pivotal, as they are responsible for tracking SCUPA’s finances. It would be very advantageous to understand non-profit organisations and/or have accounting experience. You will be responsible for reporting to the committee and keeping track of the books.

Clinical Professional Development Coordinator (Two Positions - Any Year)

To organise, prepare and host clinical development workshops, seminars, and events to help support the education and growth of paramedicine students and paramedics. This involves being clinically up-to-date and networking with professionals to provide exciting learning opportunities to broaden your knowledge within paramedicine.

Mentoring Coordinator (Two Positions - 2nd Year) 

As lead SCUPA mentor, your role is to coordinate weekly mentoring sessions for both first and second-year paramedic students to provide opportunities for growth and learning amongst all cohorts. You will represent SCUPA through your collaboration with course coordinators and lab technicians and deliver quality refreshers on content and the basics of paramedicine. This program relies on a team environment, so you must be able to lead by example and use assistance from others. It requires you to be dedicated and have good time management/planning, be confident in your learning, and be able to commit to reviewing content each week prior to sessions. Overall this position is very satisfying, not only do you have the opportunity to teach others, but you gain valuable experience.   

Social Media & Graphic Design Coordinator (Any Year)

As SCUPA’s Social media committee member, you’ll be in charge of creating and designing posters for any upcoming events and the Friday quizzes. Combining creativity and teamwork, it’s your job to get the world’s attention and bring whatever SCUPA has planned to the front of the feed. It’s essential to have good teamwork and social skills as you work with the rest of the committee to get the idea we all create out there.

Merchandise Coordinator (Any Year)

As merchandise coordinator, you will look after all things merchandise, which ranges from fulfilling SCUPA merchandise orders to liaising with the committee in regard to new designs and the ordering of stock. For this role, it is vital that you have good organisational skills and the ability to manage stock and assist students with any questions they may have surrounding the merchandise department.

SCUPA Ball Coordinator (Three Positions - Any Year)

The SCUPA Ball is the main social event of the year, held at the end of Semester 2. This highly anticipated occasion demands significant planning, coordination, and attention to detail to ensure its success. As the 2026 Ball Coordinators’, you will be responsible for booking and organising all aspects of the 2026 SCUPA Ball. In addition, you will support the current coordinators in delivering the already-booked 2025 ball. This role requires strong teamwork, regular engagement in planning meetings, excellent organisational skills, and a flair for creativity and event design.

Social Events Coordinator (Two Positions - Any Year)

As a social events coordinator, you work in a team to create fun social events that connect people and foster relationships that last beyond the degree. It involves creativity and planning - you get the opportunity to bring your exciting ideas to life and host some really entertaining events. It’s a feel-good job that adds an extra dose of fun and excitement to your university experience.

The SCOOP (Two Positions - 2nd Year)

We're looking for two enthusiastic and committed second-year students to lead the weekly SCOOP - our educational video series. In this role, you'll be responsible for creating engaging and informative content for fellow students and our broader paramedic community. You'll need to be confident on camera, open to researching a range of clinical and professional topics, and eager to develop your communication and presentation skills. Creativity, reliability, and a passion for sharing knowledge are key to making SCOOP a continued success.
